
My research began with an urgent pursuit for answers; the questions, however, had never actually been asked. A lack of foresight as a child led to missed opportunities to gain a better understanding of my elders. Somehow, diving into my genealogy research helps me to feel closer to the family members that I miss so deeply or never even had the opportunity to meet.
When I first began researching, I did it for others. Eager and excited to share my findings, getting a high from the expressions of friends and family members. As I began to delve deeper, my focus changed, I released that the true soul-shaking connections that come from looking past the surface and seeing more than just the names on the pages.
